Online learning has become increasingly common in the age of Covid-19. While the specific lockdowns and restrictions will hopefully abate with time, the impact on behaviour and societal fears will still persist and people will continue to appreciate the freedom to study remotely, from anywhere.

At Sygma Solutions, we have made efforts to adapt our own processes and systems so we can keep delivering professional training to operatives in the industry.

As a crucial aspect of reducing the harmful consequences of cable strikes, we’re dedicated to delivering solutions for the industry that match the needs and preferences of our students.

What Makes Online Learning So Interesting?

Online learning was growing rapidly even before the pandemic. From university courses to vocational certifications, many institutions are now developing completely new online curriculums or adapting previous curriculums to be more digital-friendly. There are multiple platforms out there that people can access to begin their online learning and help build upon their education. For those that have been looking in various online areas, there is a comprehensive Domestika review from Learn a Course Online that potential students may want to access to get a better idea of what is out there.

This has largely been helped by a change in attitude from industries and workplaces that now recognise online courses as credible indicators of knowledge and experience.

It has also been supported by improvements made to the way people carry out online training courses. Some of the most important developments have been:

  • New technology – Learning through videos, voice recognition, automatic corrections, and live exams, are just a few ways online learning technology has improved. Access to the internet and computers, as well as free video conferencing software, have also made it possible for almost anyone to train online.
  • Ease of monitoring – Past criticism of online learning has been that it is hard for teachers and trainers to assess their students when they are not physically in their presence. However, more efficient systems have been developed to track, benchmark and report on student progress.
  • Multi-media training experiences – Online tutorials, how-to videos, animations, recorded examples and more have all helped to create a kind of multimedia experience during online learning that replicates real-life learning.

How has Online Cable Avoidance Training been Adapted?

With something like CAT training, it’s true that a real-life practice and application is the best way to solidify any theoretical learning. However, we have developed a number of interactive classes that help to overcome this issue, with more real-life focused content aimed to prepare individuals for using equipment on site.

The major goal is to offer students all the knowledge and information they need to build a strong foundation for their eventual usage of CAT and genny tools.

Bridging the gap between offline and online, cable avoidance training has been adapted across the industry to offer things like live classes and video demonstrations.

However, more than anything, good training is carried out by competent teachers with first-hand knowledge of CAT and genny tools. With this, learning experiences, even if they are semi-automated, can be enhanced by working with someone who has actual experience operating in the field.

We try to do our best to incorporate many of these factors into CAT training courses when our students are not able to attend in person.

Why Learn Online During Coronavirus?

It is still important that we improve the standards of cable avoidance across the industry.

This is to safe lives and reduces costly delays. As such, it’s important for operatives to keep learning the skills they need so they can be proactive and efficient professionals who are fully trained in underground service detection.

For more information about what online learning consists of, get in touch with us at Sygma Solutions and we’ll happily explain how you can move forward with your CAT training and genny goals, now and in the foreseeable future.
