There can be reasons why they might return an apparent negative result when in fact there is a service on the site, so it is essential to take that into account.
By the way, since it is Christmas and we are entitled to a laugh, anyone who has owned a cat will tell you that CAT training is impossible! Cats do their own thing. But we must point out that we are talking about the equipment and not those four-legged furry creatures!
One of the latest tools is the RadioDetection RD8100 from Mala. This is a very sophisticated piece of equipment. Our RadioDetection training covers everything that it can do including things such as StrikeAlert™. This reduces the risk of accidents by warning of shallow pipes and cables and provides both visual and audio warnings.
The RD8100 also includes Dynamic Overload Protection. What this does is to filter out the interference which can occur in “electrically noisy” areas such as a substation or when working under overhead power cables.
Another feature is the iLOC remote transmitter control. This is an advanced Bluetooth link between a transmitter and the RD8100 which enables control of the signal power and frequency from the transmitter from a distance of as much as 450m away. This saves an operative a lot of time, because there is less time spent on walking and more spent on locating.
Another common issue when locating power cables is that there may be several in one location and that can be a real challenge to trace and locate an individual cable because there can be a mix of powerful or conflicting signals. The RD8100 has a feature whereby it can use the harmonic properties of power signals to ascertain if a signal comes from one cable or is a mix of several. It then allows an operative to trace and locate the routes of multiple cables.
