We have utility mapping experience, working in real on-site conditions, and using the right piece of equipment and application in every situation. We also understand the repair and calibration of every type of equipment through our partner company Swan Test & Calibration with 27 years of continuous experience and approval to repair Radiodetection, C Scope & Kolectric equipment. In short, there is nothing whatsoever that anyone could teach us about underground utility surveying because – without wishing to brag – we know everything there is to know.
It is one thing knowing and understanding everything, and another being able to put it across to someone else in simple language so that they can learn it too, but we have many years of experience in training both in the classroom and out on-site, so you can be sure that when your operatives come to our classes they will have the benefit learning from people who will show them everything, leaving nothing out. This includes teaching operatives the limits of a piece of equipment and what it cannot locate, as well as what it can. This is vital because it prevents operatives from believing that the equipment has located something when it hasn’t. Our job is to ensure that your operatives do not make mistakes.
Our CAT and Genny course cover the reasons for using buried services locators and includes how to comply with HSG47. It also includes not only health and safety, but the financial implications of a cable strike. When you hit an underground utility, at the very least there will be a delay on-site until the utility company has carried out repairs, but there can also be massive financial costs incurred by businesses whose processes have been halted as well. It has not been unknown for a contractor to go out of business as a result of a cable strike.
We also show operatives how to understand buried services plans and the fact that they are not always accurate. Naturally, our courses include a complete understanding of the Genny 4, and in addition, we can teach the use of CAT manager software and how to analyse the data.
